Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 package (14.3 oz) Oreo cookies, standard flavor
  • 1 package (8 oz) cream cheese, softened to room temperature
  • 12 oz black candy melts or dark chocolate wafers
  • 48 edible candy eyes
  • 24 pink heart-shaped sprinkles (for the noses)
  • 48 chocolate chips or small fondant triangles (for the ears)
  • Optional: Black licorice strings for whiskers

Instructions

  1. Step 1: Crush the Cookies. Place the entire package of Oreo cookies into a food processor. Pulse until the cookies are fine crumbs. You want to make sure there are no large chunks left, as this ensures the truffles hold their shape and have a smooth internal texture.
  2. Step 2: Combine with Cream Cheese. In a large mixing bowl, combine the Oreo crumbs and the softened cream cheese. Use a hand mixer or a sturdy spatula to blend them until a thick, uniform dough forms. There should be no white streaks of cream cheese visible.
  3. Step 3: Roll the Balls. Scoop about one tablespoon of the mixture at a time and roll it between your palms to form a smooth ball, approximately one inch in diameter. Place the balls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes to firm up.
  4. Step 4: Melt the Chocolate. Place your black candy melts or dark chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl. Heat in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until the chocolate is completely smooth. Be careful not to overheat it, as the chocolate can become clumpy.
  5. Step 5: Dip and Decorate. Using a fork or a dipping tool, submerge each chilled Oreo ball into the melted chocolate. Tap off the excess and return it to the parchment paper. While the chocolate is still wet, quickly press two chocolate chips onto the top for ears, two candy eyes on the front, and a pink heart sprinkle for the nose. Repeat for all balls and let them sit until the shells are hardened.
