Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 can (16.3 oz) refrigerated flaky layers biscuits (8 count)
  • 1 cup canned apple pie filling (apples chopped into small pieces)
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • Cooking spray (non-aerosol preferred)

Instructions

  1. In a small shallow bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar and ground cinnamon until well combined. In a separate small bowl, melt the butter in the microwave. Set both bowls aside to create an assembly line for the finished dough balls.
  2. Open the can of biscuits and separate each individual biscuit. Use your fingers or a small rolling pin to flatten each biscuit into a circle about 4 inches in diameter. Ensure the dough is even so the filling doesn’t leak out during the cooking process.
  3. Place about one tablespoon of the chopped apple pie filling into the center of each flattened biscuit. Be careful not to overfill them, as this will make it difficult to seal the dough properly.
  4. Carefully pull the edges of the biscuit dough up over the apple filling. Pinch the seams together firmly to create a ball shape. Roll the ball gently in your hands to ensure there are no openings where the filling could escape.
  5. Dip each dough ball into the melted butter, ensuring all sides are coated. Immediately roll the buttered dough ball in the cinnamon-sugar mixture until it is fully covered. Repeat this for all eight biscuits.
  6. Lightly grease the air fryer basket with cooking spray. Place the apple pie bombs in the basket in a single layer, leaving at least an inch of space between them for air circulation. Cook at 350°F (175°C) for 8 to 10 minutes, or until the dough is golden brown and cooked through.
  7. Remove the bombs from the air fryer and let them rest for 2 to 3 minutes before serving. The filling inside will be very hot! Serve warm for the best texture and flavor.
