1 can (2.25 oz) sliced black olives (reserve a few whole olives for spiders)
1/4 cup diced green onions
Tortilla chips for serving
Instructions
Spread the refried beans in an even layer at the bottom of a large, shallow serving platter or a 9×13 inch glass baking dish. This provides a sturdy foundation for the rest of your ingredients.
In a medium bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, 1/2 cup of the sour cream, and the taco seasoning. Mix until smooth. Spread this mixture carefully over the bean layer, making sure to reach the edges.
Top the cream cheese layer with the salsa, followed by a layer of shredded lettuce. Sprinkle the shredded cheese, diced tomatoes, and green onions around the outer border of the dish, leaving the center clear for the spider web design.
Place the remaining 1/2 cup of sour cream into a plastic squeeze bottle or a plastic bag with a small corner snipped off. Starting in the center of the dip, pipe 4 to 5 concentric circles. Use a toothpick or the tip of a knife to draw lines from the center circle outward to the edge to create the web effect.
Take a whole black olive for the spider’s body and place it on the web. Slice another olive into thin strips to serve as the legs. Place four legs on each side of the “body” olive. Repeat this to create 2 or 3 spiders across your web.
