Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 sheet frozen puff pastry, thawed but cold
  • 1 large egg (for egg wash)
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 1/2 cup chocolate hazelnut spread or melted dark chocolate
  • 1/4 cup white chocolate chips or white decorator icing
  • Optional: Sprinkles or plastic spiders for decoration

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat to prevent the pastry from sticking and to ensure an easy cleanup.
  2. Unroll the cold puff pastry sheet onto a lightly floured surface. Use a round biscuit cutter or the rim of a glass (about 2.5 to 3 inches in diameter) to cut out 12 circles. Place the circles onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving about an inch of space between them.
  3. Whisk the egg and water together in a small bowl. Lightly brush the top of each pastry circle with the egg wash. Bake in the oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the pastry has puffed up and is golden. Remove from the oven and let them cool completely on a wire rack.
  4. Once the pastry bites are cool, gently press down the center of each circle if they have puffed up too much, creating a small indentation. Spread a thin, even layer of chocolate hazelnut spread or melted dark chocolate over the top of each circle, leaving a small border around the edge.
  5. Melt the white chocolate chips and place them in a small piping bag (or a sandwich bag with a tiny corner snipped off). Pipe three concentric circles of white chocolate on top of the dark chocolate base. While the white chocolate is still wet, take a toothpick and drag it from the center of the circle outward toward the edge. Repeat this 6 to 8 times around the circle to create the web effect.
