1/4 cup red or green grapes (halved if for younger children)
1.5 ounces cheddar or colby jack cheese (cubed or cut into shapes)
5–8 whole grain crackers
2 slices of deli turkey or ham (rolled up)
Optional: 1 teaspoon lemon juice (to prevent browning)
Instructions
Wash the apple and grapes thoroughly. Slice the apple into thin wedges. If you are packing this box for later, toss the apple slices in a small bowl with a teaspoon of lemon juice or soak them in salted water for a few minutes to prevent them from turning brown. Pat them dry before packing.
Cut your cheese into bite-sized cubes or use small cookie cutters to create fun shapes like stars or hearts. Take your deli meat slices and roll them up tightly to make them easy for little hands to pick up. If the meat is too large, you can slice the rolls into smaller “sushi” style rounds.
Using a bento-style lunch box or a container with dividers, place the crackers in one section to keep them crisp. Arrange the cheese and meat rolls in another section. Place the fruit in the remaining sections. Ensure everything is packed snugly so the items don’t shift too much during transport.
