12 oz green candy melts (vibrant green or lime green)
15 sliced almonds (blanched or natural)
1 teaspoon coconut oil or vegetable shortening (optional, for thinning)
Black edible ink marker or black decorating gel (optional, for detail)
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the “Fingernails” If you want a more realistic look, you can use a black edible marker to color your almond slices or dip the tips of the almonds in a tiny bit of melted dark chocolate. Set these aside on a piece of parchment paper so they are ready to go as soon as the pretzels are dipped.
Step 2: Melt the Coating Place the green candy melts in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring well between each session until the candy is completely smooth. If the mixture is too thick, stir in a teaspoon of coconut oil or shortening to help it reach a dipping consistency.
Step 3: Dip the Pretzels Tilt your bowl or pour the melted candy into a tall glass for easier dipping. Dip each pretzel rod about two-thirds of the way into the green coating. Lift the pretzel and let the excess candy drip off back into the container. Place the coated pretzel on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Step 4: Add the Details While the candy coating is still wet, press one almond slice onto the very tip of the pretzel to act as the fingernail. To create “knuckles,” use a toothpick or a butter knife to gently press three or four horizontal lines into the middle of the green coating. This gives the finger a wrinkled, creepy appearance.
Step 5: Let Them Set Allow the pretzel rods to sit at room temperature for about 30 to 45 minutes until the candy coating has fully hardened. If you are in a rush, you can place the baking sheet in the refrigerator for 10 to 15 minutes to speed up the process.
