12 oz white chocolate melting wafers or white almond bark
1 package small edible candy eyeballs
1 tube black decorating gel or an edible black marker (optional)
1 teaspoon coconut oil (optional, for smoother chocolate)
Instructions
Step 1: Preparation: Line a large baking sheet or your countertop with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat. This ensures the pretzels won’t stick once the chocolate sets. Organize your candy eyeballs in a small bowl so they are ready to be placed quickly.
Step 2: Melting the Chocolate: Place the white chocolate melting wafers in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring thoroughly between each session. Continue until the chocolate is completely smooth. If the chocolate is too thick, stir in a teaspoon of coconut oil to reach a thinner, dippable consistency.
Step 3: Dipping the Pretzels: Drop a pretzel into the melted white chocolate. Use a fork to submerge it completely. Lift the pretzel out with the fork, tapping it gently against the side of the bowl to let the excess chocolate drip back in. The two top holes of the pretzel will act as the “eyes” of the ghost.
Step 4: Adding the Ghostly Features: Place the coated pretzel onto the prepared parchment paper. While the chocolate is still wet, carefully place two candy eyeballs onto the top two holes of the pretzel. If you prefer a more “screaming” ghost look, leave the bottom hole open or fill it with a dot of black decorating gel later.
Step 5: Setting the Treats: Allow the pretzel bites to sit at room temperature for about 20 to 30 minutes until the chocolate has hardened completely. If you are in a hurry, you can place the baking sheet in the refrigerator for 5 to 10 minutes to speed up the process.
