Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 tubes (13.8 oz each) refrigerated pizza crust or crescent roll dough
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened to room temperature
  • 10 oz frozen chopped spinach, thawed and squeezed very dry
  • 14 oz can artichoke hearts, drained and finely chopped
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt and 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup cherry tomatoes or diced red bell peppers (for decoration)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat to prevent the dough from sticking and to make cleanup easier.
  2. In a medium mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, well-drained spinach, chopped artichokes, mozzarella, Parmesan, garlic, red pepper flakes, salt, and pepper. Stir everything together until the mixture is smooth and the ingredients are evenly distributed.
  3. Unroll the pizza dough onto a lightly floured surface. Use a pizza cutter or a sharp knife to cut the dough into roughly 3-inch squares. You will need about 30 to 35 squares in total to form a full tree.
  4. Place a small spoonful (about 1 tablespoon) of the spinach artichoke mixture into the center of each dough square. Fold the corners of the dough over the filling and pinch the seams tightly to seal. Roll the filled dough between your palms to form a neat ball.
  5. On your prepared baking sheet, arrange the balls in a triangle shape to resemble a Christmas tree. Start with one ball at the top, then two below it, and continue increasing until you reach the base. Use any remaining balls to create a small rectangular “trunk” at the bottom.
  6. Place the baking sheet in the oven and bake for 22 to 25 minutes. The dough should be puffed up and a beautiful golden brown color. Ensure the seams are cooked through so the filling stays securely inside.
  7. In a small bowl, whisk together the melted butter and chopped parsley. Brush the warm bread balls generously with the herb butter. Place halved cherry tomatoes or bits of red pepper between the balls to look like ornaments and serve immediately.
