Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 cherry tomatoes or grape tomatoes
  • 12 mini mozzarella balls (bocconcini), drained
  • 12 large fresh basil leaves
  • 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon balsamic glaze
  • A pinch of sea salt
  • A pinch of freshly ground black pepper
  • 12 wooden skewers or long toothpicks

Instructions

  1. Start by washing the cherry tomatoes and fresh basil leaves under cold water. Pat them dry thoroughly with a paper towel. If the basil leaves are very large, you can tear them in half, but keeping them whole and folding them usually looks best on the skewer.
  2. Take a wooden skewer and slide on a cherry tomato. Next, fold a basil leaf in half or quarters and slide it onto the skewer. Follow this with a mini mozzarella ball. Ensure the ingredients are pushed toward the center of the skewer so they are easy to hold.
  3. Place the completed skewers on a clean serving platter in a single layer. Drizzle the extra virgin olive oil evenly over the skewers. Lightly sprinkle with sea salt and freshly ground black pepper to enhance the natural flavors of the produce.
  4. Just before serving, drizzle the balsamic glaze in a decorative zig-zag pattern over the entire platter. This adds a sweet and tangy element that ties all the ingredients together perfectly.
