Description
A delicious and comforting dish that combines Salisbury steak flavors with juicy meatballs, served atop creamy mashed potatoes.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup chopped onion
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 cups beef broth
- 2 tablespoons flour
- 2 tablespoons ketchup
- 1 tablespoon mustard
- 2 pounds potatoes, peeled and cubed
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 4 tablespoons butter
- 2 teaspoons garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh herbs (like parsley or thyme)
Instructions
- Combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, chopped onion, egg, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper in a large bowl. Mix until just combined and form into meatballs.
- Brown the meatballs on all sides in a large skillet over medium heat. Once browned, remove the meatballs and set them aside.
- Add the flour to the drippings in the same skillet, cooking for 1 minute. Gradually whisk in the beef broth, ketchup, and mustard. Bring to a simmer and return the meatballs to the skillet.
- Cover and simmer on low for about 20 minutes until the meatballs are cooked through.
- Boil the peeled and cubed potatoes in salted water until fork-tender. Drain and return to the pot.
- Add heavy cream, butter, garlic powder, and chopped herbs to the potatoes. Mash until creamy and well combined.
- Serve the meatballs with gravy over the creamy garlic herb mashed potatoes.
Notes
For extra flavor, mix in parmesan cheese or sautéed mushrooms with the meatball mixture. You can substitute ground turkey or chicken for a lighter version.
