- 1 pre-made pie crust
- 2 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
- 2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 egg (for egg wash)
- 1 tablespoon coarse sugar (for topping)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Combine the sliced strawberries, balsamic vinegar, sugar, cornstarch, and vanilla extract in a bowl.
- Roll out the pie crust on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper; spoon the strawberry mixture onto the center, leaving a 2-inch border.
- Fold the edges of the crust over the strawberries, brush with beaten egg, and sprinkle coarse sugar on top.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until the crust is golden brown and the strawberries are bubbly.
- Allow to cool slightly before serving.
Notes
Best served warm or at room temperature, possibly with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.
