Ingredients

  • 1 pre-made pie crust
  • 2 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
  • 2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)
  • 1 tablespoon coarse sugar (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Combine the sliced strawberries, balsamic vinegar, sugar, cornstarch, and vanilla extract in a bowl.
  3. Roll out the pie crust on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper; spoon the strawberry mixture onto the center, leaving a 2-inch border.
  4. Fold the edges of the crust over the strawberries, brush with beaten egg, and sprinkle coarse sugar on top.
  5. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until the crust is golden brown and the strawberries are bubbly.
  6. Allow to cool slightly before serving.
