Description

A comforting twist on classic meatloaf, this Meatloaf Casserole combines savory ground beef, rich cheese, and tangy tomato sauce in a hearty, easy-to-make dish.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheese
  • 1 cup tomato sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease the casserole dish.
  2. Combine the ground beef, chopped onion, breadcrumbs, egg, milk, salt, pepper, and Worcestershire sauce in a large bowl.
  3. Spread half of the meat mixture evenly in the greased casserole dish.
  4. Layer half of the shredded cheese on top of the meat mixture and pour half of the tomato sauce over it.
  5. Repeat by adding the remaining meat mixture, followed by the rest of the tomato sauce, and top with the remaining cheese.
  6. Cover the dish with foil and bake for 45 minutes, then remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes.
  7. Allow the casserole to cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

For a spicier kick, consider adding diced jalapeños or hot sauce to the meat mixture.
