Description
A delightful Italian dish combining tender chicken, rich Marsala wine, and creamy orzo, perfect for family dinners or entertaining guests.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 chicken breasts
- 1 cup Marsala wine
- 2 cups chicken broth
- 1 cup orzo pasta
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh parsley for garnish
Instructions
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Season chicken breasts with salt and pepper and add to the skillet. Cook until browned on both sides and cooked through, about 6-7 minutes per side. Remove and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add chopped onion and garlic. Sauté until fragrant and translucent.
- Pour in the Marsala wine and scrape up any browned bits from the bottom of the pan. Let it reduce slightly for about 2-3 minutes.
- Add chicken broth and bring to a simmer. Stir in the orzo and cook according to package instructions until al dente.
- Once the orzo is cooked, stir in the heavy cream and return the chicken to the skillet. Allow everything to simmer together for a few minutes. Serve hot, garnished with chopped parsley.
Notes
Serve immediately with a fresh green salad or steamed vegetables. Pair with a light white wine and consider adding garlic bread for special occasions.
