Description

A delicious Hawaiian dish that’s sweet and savory, perfect for barbecues and family dinners.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pounds chicken thighs
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon grated ginger
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 green onions, chopped
  • Sesame seeds for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine soy sauce, ketchup, brown sugar, rice vinegar, grated ginger, and minced garlic to create a flavorful marinade.
  2. Add the chicken thighs to the bowl with the marinade. Ensure the chicken is well coated. Cover and marinate for at least 1 hour, preferably overnight.
  3. Preheat the grill to medium-high heat. Remove the chicken from the marinade and let any excess marinade drip off. Grill the chicken for 6-8 minutes per side, basting with reserved marinade.
  4. Once cooked, remove the chicken from the grill, and let it rest for a few minutes. Garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds before serving.

Notes

For extra flavor, add pineapple juice to the marinade. Substitute chicken with firm tofu for vegetarian option.
