Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup rolled oats (old fashioned oats)
  • 1 cup water or unsweetened almond milk
  • 1 scoop (approx. 30g) chocolate whey or plant-based protein powder
  • 1 tablespoon natural creamy peanut butter
  • 1 teaspoon unsweetened cocoa powder (optional, for extra chocolate flavor)
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • A pinch of sea salt
  • Optional toppings: Banana slices, chia seeds, or a few dark chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. In a small saucepan or a microwave-safe bowl, combine the rolled oats, water (or almond milk), cocoa powder, and a pinch of salt. The salt is crucial as it enhances the chocolate and peanut butter flavors.
  2. If using a stovetop, bring the mixture to a gentle boil over medium heat, then reduce to low and simmer for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. If using a microwave, heat on high for 2 minutes, watching closely to ensure it does not boil over.
  3. Once the oats have absorbed most of the liquid and reached your desired thickness, remove the pan from the heat or take the bowl out of the microwave. Let it sit for 30 seconds to cool slightly before adding the protein.
  4. Stir in the chocolate protein powder and vanilla extract. If the mixture becomes too thick, add a splash of extra milk. Finally, swirl in the peanut butter so you get a bit of nuttiness in every bite.
  5. Transfer the oats to a serving bowl. Add your favorite toppings, such as sliced bananas or a sprinkle of chia seeds, and enjoy while warm.
