French Onion Ground Beef Rice Casserole

A delightful combination of rich flavors with caramelized onions, savory ground beef, tender rice, and melted cheese, perfect for family dinners.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 cup rice
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or Swiss)
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Slice the onion thinly and gather all ingredients.
  2. Heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and cook until caramelized, about 10 minutes.
  3. Combine the ground beef, rice, beef broth, cream of mushroom soup, caramelized onions, salt, and pepper in a large bowl. Mix well.
  4. Pour the mixture into a greased casserole dish, spreading evenly. Top with shredded cheese. Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes, then remove foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes until cheese is bubbly and golden.
  5. Let the casserole cool for a few minutes before serving.
