Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound pizza dough (homemade or store-bought)
  • 1/2 cup high-quality pizza sauce
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 3 ounces sliced pepperoni
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon cornmeal (for the baking sheet)

Instructions

  1. Step 1: Preheat the Oven. Set your oven to 475°F (245°C). If you have a pizza stone, place it in the oven while it preheats. If not, a regular baking sheet works just fine. High heat is essential for a crispy crust.
  2. Step 2: Prepare the Dough. On a lightly floured surface or a piece of parchment paper, stretch or roll out the pizza dough into a 12-inch circle. If the dough snaps back, let it rest for 5 minutes to relax the gluten and try again.
  3. Step 3: Season the Crust. Lightly brush the outer edge of the dough with olive oil. This helps the crust turn golden brown and stay crunchy. Sprinkle a little cornmeal on your baking pan to prevent the dough from sticking.
  4. Step 4: Layer the Toppings. Spread the pizza sauce evenly over the dough, leaving about an inch of space around the edges for the crust. Sprinkle the mozzarella cheese over the sauce, then layer the pepperoni slices on top. Finish with a dusting of dried oregano and garlic powder.
  5. Step 5: Bake to Perfection. Place the pizza in the oven and bake for 12 to 15 minutes. You will know it is done when the crust is golden brown and the cheese is bubbly and starting to brown in spots.
