4 English muffins (split in half) or 8 mini pizza crusts
1/2 cup pizza sauce or marinara sauce
8 sticks of low-moisture mozzarella string cheese
1/4 cup sliced black olives (for the eyes)
Optional: Pepperoni or finely chopped bell peppers (for hidden layers)
Instructions
Step 1: Preheat and Prep – Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat to prevent sticking and make cleanup easier.
Step 2: Apply the Sauce – Place the English muffin halves or mini crusts onto the prepared baking sheet. Spread about 1 tablespoon of pizza sauce evenly over each half, leaving a small border around the edges.
Step 3: Add Hidden Fillings – If you want extra flavor, place a slice of pepperoni or a few small vegetable pieces on top of the sauce. This adds a nice surprise under the “bandages.”
Step 4: Create the Mummy Bandages – Pull the string cheese sticks apart into thin strips. Lay the cheese strips horizontally across the pizza in a slightly haphazard, overlapping pattern to resemble mummy wrappings. Leave a small gap near the top for the eyes.
Step 5: Add the Eyes – Place two sliced black olives in the gap you left near the top of the cheese strips. These will serve as your mummy’s spooky eyes peeking out from the bandages.
Step 6: Bake and Melt – Bake in the preheated oven for 8 to 10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and slightly bubbly and the edges of the muffins are toasted. Be careful not to brown the cheese too much, or the “mummy” look will be lost.
