Ingredients

Scale
  • 3–4 lb Beef Chuck Roast
  • 1 packet (1 oz) Ranch Dressing Mix
  • 1 packet (1 oz) Au Jus Gravy Mix
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) Unsalted Butter

Instructions

  1. Place your beef chuck roast into the bottom of a 6-quart slow cooker. You do not need to sear the meat beforehand, though you can if you prefer a darker crust. Ensure the roast sits flat in the basin.
  2. Sprinkle the entire packet of ranch dressing mix and the entire packet of au jus gravy mix directly over the top of the beef. Try to distribute the powder evenly across the surface of the meat.
  3. Place the stick of butter directly on top of the seasoned roast. You do not need to melt the butter first; it will slowly melt over the meat during the cooking process, creating a rich sauce. Do not add any water or broth, as the meat will produce its own liquid.
  4. Cover the crockpot with the lid and set it to cook on “Low” for 8 hours. Avoid opening the lid during the cooking process to keep the heat and moisture trapped inside. Once finished, the beef should be tender enough to shred with two forks.
