1.5 ounces whiskey (bourbon, rye, or Irish whiskey)
2 to 3 teaspoons honey, to taste
2 to 3 teaspoons lemon juice, to taste
1 cinnamon stick (for garnish)
1 lemon slice (for garnish)
Optional: 2 whole cloves
Instructions
Bring about 1 cup of water to a boil using a kettle or a small saucepan. You only need 3/4 of a cup for the drink, but having a little extra ensures you can pre-warm your mug if desired.
While the water is heating, pour the whiskey, honey, and lemon juice into a heat-safe mug. If you like a spicier flavor, you can press two cloves into your lemon slice at this stage.
Pour the hot water into the mug over the whiskey mixture. Use a spoon or a cinnamon stick to stir the drink thoroughly until the honey is completely dissolved into the liquid.
Add a fresh cinnamon stick and your lemon slice to the mug. Let it sit for about a minute to allow the flavors to meld together and reach a comfortable drinking temperature.
