1 tube of black decorating gel or black candy melts
1 tablespoon butter (to grease the skillet)
Graham crackers, pretzels, or sliced apples for dipping
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C). While the oven is heating up, take a small cast-iron skillet or an 8×8-inch baking dish and lightly grease the bottom and sides with butter. This prevents the chocolate from sticking and makes cleanup much easier later.
Pour the chocolate chips into the bottom of the greased skillet. Spread them out in an even layer so that they cover the entire bottom. This will serve as the rich, melted foundation for your toasted marshmallows.
Place the large marshmallows on top of the chocolate chips. Start from the outside and work your way in toward the center. Pack them closely together so there are no gaps. You want a solid white “canvas” of marshmallows to create your Ghostface design.
Place the skillet in the oven for 5 to 8 minutes. Watch closely! You want the marshmallows to be puffy and just starting to turn a light golden brown. Do not let them burn, as the white surface is necessary for the Ghostface features to stand out.
Once the skillet is out of the oven and the marshmallows are slightly cooled but still warm, use the black decorating gel or melted black candy melts. Draw two long, oval eyes and a long, distorted mouth in the center of the marshmallow layer to mimic the Ghostface mask. Serve immediately while warm.
