12 ounces high-quality melting chocolate (milk, dark, or white chocolate wafers)
1/2 cup festive Christmas sprinkles (red and green stars, nonpareils, or sugar pearls)
1 teaspoon coconut oil or vegetable shortening (optional, for smoother chocolate)
Instructions
Prepare the Workspace: Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat. This ensures the pretzels won’t stick once the chocolate sets. Set out your sprinkles in small bowls for easy access.
Melt the Chocolate: Place the chocolate melting wafers in a microwave-safe bowl. Heat in 30-second intervals, stirring well between each session. If the chocolate is too thick, stir in a teaspoon of coconut oil. Once completely smooth, pour the chocolate into a tall, narrow glass for easier dipping.
Dip the Pretzels: Take one pretzel rod and dip it into the tall glass of chocolate, leaving about two inches of the pretzel exposed at the bottom to act as a handle. Lift the pretzel out and gently tap it against the edge of the glass to let the excess chocolate drip off.
Decorate with Sprinkles: While the chocolate is still wet, hold the pretzel over a clean plate and shake the Christmas sprinkles over the chocolate-covered portion. Rotate the rod to ensure even coverage on all sides. Do not wait too long, or the chocolate will set and the sprinkles won’t stick.
Set and Cool: Place the decorated pretzel rod onto the prepared baking sheet. Repeat the process for the remaining rods. Let them sit at room temperature for about 30 to 60 minutes until the chocolate is completely firm. For faster results, place the tray in the refrigerator for 15 minutes.
