Description
A delightful holiday pastry that combines flaky puff pastry with a creamy filling, shaped like a Christmas tree.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 package of puff pastry
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 egg (for egg wash)
- Green and red sprinkles (optional, for decoration)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Spread a light layer of flour on your work surface and roll out the puff pastry to ensure it’s even and easy to work with.
- Combine the softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract in a mixing bowl. Mix until you achieve a smooth and creamy texture.
- Cut the rolled-out pastry into the shape of a Christmas tree, leaving enough at the bottom for the trunk.
- Spread the cream cheese mixture across the pastry, avoiding the edges so it doesn’t spill out while baking.
- Fold over the edges of your tree shape to resemble branches.
- Brush the entire pastry with the beaten egg for a golden finish when baked.
- Place the shaped Danish on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
- Let the Danish cool for a few minutes on a wire rack.
- Sprinkle with green and red sprinkles if desired.
- Serve the Danish warm or at room temperature.
Notes
Ensure cream cheese is at room temperature for smooth mixing. Feel free to customize decorations.
