Ingredients

  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • 1 cup marinara sauce
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cut the mozzarella cheese into sticks about 1/2 inch thick.
  2. Set up a dredging station with three shallow bowls: one with flour, one with beaten eggs, and one with breadcrumbs mixed with garlic powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.
  3. Dip each mozzarella stick in flour, shake off excess, then dip in egg, and finally coat with breadcrumbs.
  4. Refrigerate the coated sticks for about 30 minutes to help them hold their shape.
  5. Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or deep pan over medium heat.
  6. Fry the mozzarella sticks a few at a time until golden brown, about 1-2 minutes on each side.
  7. Remove from oil and drain on paper towels.
  8. Serve hot with marinara sauce sprinkled with red pepper flakes, if desired.

Notes

For best results, ensure oil is hot enough for frying. Consider double-dipping for extra crunch.
