Description
Golden, crunchy mozzarella sticks paired with a spicy marinara sauce, perfect for appetizers or snacking.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Vegetable oil for frying
- 1 cup marinara sauce
- 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
Instructions
- Cut the mozzarella cheese into sticks about 1/2 inch thick.
- Set up a dredging station with three shallow bowls: one with flour, one with beaten eggs, and one with breadcrumbs mixed with garlic powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.
- Dip each mozzarella stick in flour, shake off excess, then dip in egg, and finally coat with breadcrumbs.
- Refrigerate the coated sticks for about 30 minutes to help them hold their shape.
- Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or deep pan over medium heat.
- Fry the mozzarella sticks a few at a time until golden brown, about 1-2 minutes on each side.
- Remove from oil and drain on paper towels.
- Serve hot with marinara sauce sprinkled with red pepper flakes, if desired.
Notes
For best results, ensure oil is hot enough for frying. Consider double-dipping for extra crunch.
