A comforting classic baked mac and cheese that delights both kids and adults with its rich, gooey texture.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups elbow macaroni
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 3 cups milk
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Breadcrumbs (optional, for topping)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Cook the macaroni according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the flour, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper to create a flavorful roux.
- Gradually whisk in the milk, continuously stirring until the mixture thickens and bubbles. Remove from heat and stir in the cheddar, mozzarella, and Parmesan cheese until completely melted.
- Combine the cheesy sauce with the cooked macaroni in a baking dish. If desired, sprinkle breadcrumbs on top for an added crunch. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until bubbly and golden brown.
Notes
For added flavor, consider variations with different cheeses or vegetables. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3-4 days.
