Description

Cachapas are delightful Venezuelan corn pancakes known for their sweet flavor and soft texture. Perfect as a snack or side dish, they pair beautifully with cheese.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups corn kernels
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 cup cornmeal
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • Cheese (optional, for filling)

Instructions

  1. Blend the corn kernels with milk until mostly smooth.
  2. Combine the blended corn with cornmeal, salt, and sugar in a large bowl.
  3. Heat a skillet over medium heat and melt the butter.
  4. Pour a portion of the batter into the skillet and cook until bubbles form, then flip and cook until golden brown.
  5. Add cheese in the center and fold the cachapa in half.

Notes

For gluten-free, use certified gluten-free cornmeal. You can customize by adding savory or sweet ingredients.
