Description

A delightful treat that combines the best of brownies and cookies, perfect for parties or family treats.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • 1 cup brownie mix
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  2. Cream together the softened butter, sugar, and brown sugar until smooth.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract until well combined.
  4. Combine the flour, baking powder, and salt in another bowl. Gradually add this dry mixture to the creamed mixture and mix until just combined.
  5. Stir in the chocolate chips and chopped nuts, if using, until evenly distributed throughout the batter.
  6. Spread half of the cookie batter in the bottom of the prepared baking pan, smoothing it into an even layer.
  7. Prepare the brownie mix according to package instructions and pour it evenly over the cookie layer in the baking pan.
  8. Drop spoonfuls of the remaining cookie batter on top of the brownie layer, trying to cover it as much as possible.
  9. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  10. Let the bars cool in the pan before cutting them into squares for serving.

Notes

Enjoy warm or at room temperature, and serve with vanilla ice cream for a delightful treat.
