Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cans (12.4 oz each) refrigerated cinnamon rolls with icing
  • 1 can (21 oz) apple pie filling
  • 1/2 cup caramel sauce (plus extra for drizzling)
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)
  • Non-stick cooking spray

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking dish with non-stick cooking spray to ensure the caramel and sugar don’t stick to the sides during the baking process.
  2. Open the cans of cinnamon rolls and set the icing containers aside for later. Cut each individual cinnamon roll into four equal quarters using a knife or kitchen shears.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine the quartered cinnamon rolls, the can of apple pie filling, 1/2 cup of caramel sauce, and the ground cinnamon. If the apple slices in the filling are very large, you can use a knife to chop them into smaller, bite-sized pieces before mixing. Stir gently until the dough pieces are well-coated.
  4. Pour the mixture into your prepared baking dish, spreading it out into an even layer. If you are using chopped pecans or walnuts, sprinkle them evenly over the top of the mixture at this stage.
  5. Place the dish in the oven and bake for 25 to 30 minutes. You will know it is done when the dough is golden brown and the center is set. If the top begins to brown too quickly, you can loosely cover the dish with aluminum foil for the final 5 minutes.
  6. Remove the bake from the oven and let it cool for about 5 minutes. While still warm, drizzle the reserved icing from the cinnamon roll cans over the top. Finish with an extra drizzle of caramel sauce before serving.
