1 tube refrigerated crescent roll dough or puff pastry sheets
1/2 cup apple cider (reduced to 2 tablespoons for best flavor)
4 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
1–2 tablespoons milk or additional apple cider (for glaze)
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat to prevent sticking and ensure easy cleanup.
Simmer the 1/2 cup of apple cider in a small saucepan over medium heat until it reduces to about 2 tablespoons. This concentrates the flavor so it doesn’t make the dough soggy.
In a small bowl, mix the softened butter, brown sugar, ground cinnamon, nutmeg, and the reduced apple cider until a thick, spreadable paste forms.
Unroll your dough onto a lightly floured surface. Spread the cinnamon apple mixture evenly over the entire surface of the dough, leaving a tiny margin at the edges.
Fold the dough in half so the filling is sandwiched inside. Use a pizza cutter or a sharp knife to cut the dough into strips about 1 inch wide.
Pick up each strip and gently twist it several times to create a spiral effect. Place the twists on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
Bake for 12 to 15 minutes, or until the twists are puffed and a beautiful golden brown color. Remove from the oven and let them cool slightly on the pan.
Whisk together the powdered sugar and enough milk or cider to reach a drizzling consistency. Drizzle the glaze generously over the warm twists before serving.
