Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 salmon fillets (6 oz each)
  • 1 bunch of fresh asparagus (woody ends trimmed)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 lemon (half sliced into rounds, half for juice)
  • Optional: Fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Start by patting the salmon fillets dry with a paper towel. This is a crucial step to ensure the skin gets crispy and the seasoning sticks properly. Trim the tough, woody ends off the asparagus spears, usually about an inch or two from the bottom.
  2. In a small bowl, mix the olive oil, garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Place the salmon and asparagus in a large mixing bowl or on a sheet pan. Drizzle the oil mixture over both the fish and the vegetables, tossing the asparagus gently to ensure it is evenly coated.
  3. Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for about 3 minutes. Place the salmon fillets in the center of the basket, skin-side down. Arrange the asparagus spears around the salmon in a single layer. Place a few lemon slices on top of the salmon for extra flavor and moisture.
  4. Slide the basket into the air fryer and cook for 8 to 12 minutes. The exact time will depend on the thickness of your salmon fillets. The salmon is done when it reaches an internal temperature of 145°F and flakes easily with a fork, and the asparagus should be tender-crisp with slightly charred tips.
  5. Carefully remove the salmon and asparagus from the air fryer using tongs. Squeeze the remaining fresh lemon juice over everything and sprinkle with fresh parsley if desired. Serve immediately while hot.
