Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb Brussels sprouts (trimmed and halved)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons pure maple syrup
  • 1/2 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Optional: 1/4 cup chopped pecans or dried cranberries for garnish

Instructions

  1. Wash the Brussels sprouts thoroughly in cold water. Trim the woody ends off each sprout and remove any yellow or damaged outer leaves. Slice each sprout in half lengthwise to ensure maximum surface area for caramelization.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, toss the halved Brussels sprouts with the olive oil, maple syrup, sea salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Stir well until every sprout is evenly coated in the sweet and savory mixture.
  3. Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C). Once ready, place the sprouts into the air fryer basket. Try to keep them in a single layer if possible, though a little overlapping is fine as long as you shake the basket later.
  4. Cook the sprouts for 12 to 15 minutes. At the halfway mark (around 7 minutes), remove the basket and give it a vigorous shake to redistribute the sprouts. This ensures even browning on all sides. Continue cooking until the edges are dark brown and crispy.
  5. Transfer the roasted sprouts to a serving bowl. If you are using pecans or dried cranberries, toss them in while the sprouts are still piping hot so the flavors meld together.
