Ingredients

Scale
  • 10–12 large jalapeno peppers, halved lengthwise and seeded
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 cup Panko breadcrumbs (optional, for crunch)
  • 2 tablespoons cooked bacon bits (optional)
  • Fresh chives or cilantro for garnish

Instructions

  1. Start by washing the jalapenos and drying them thoroughly. Cut each pepper in half lengthwise. Use a small spoon to scoop out the seeds and the white membranes. If you prefer more heat, you can leave a few seeds behind, but removing them all will make the poppers mild and enjoyable for everyone.
  2. In a medium mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, shredded cheddar cheese, garlic powder, and onion powder. If you are using bacon bits, fold them in now. Use a spatula or a fork to mix everything until it is smooth and well combined.
  3. Using a small spoon or a butter knife, fill each jalapeno half with the cheese mixture. Press the filling down slightly so it stays in place. If you are using Panko breadcrumbs, dip the cheese side of the pepper into a small bowl of crumbs to create a light coating on top.
  4. Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C). Place the stuffed peppers in the air fryer basket in a single layer, making sure they are not touching. Cook for 8 to 10 minutes, or until the peppers are tender and the cheese is bubbly and slightly browned on top.
  5. Carefully remove the poppers from the air fryer and place them on a serving platter. Let them rest for 2 to 3 minutes before serving, as the cheese filling will be very hot. Garnish with fresh chives or cilantro if desired.
