Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 standard-sized hot dogs (beef, turkey, or veggie)
  • 1 tube (8 oz) refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • Candy eyes or yellow mustard for decoration
  • Optional: Ketchup for “blood” dipping

Instructions

  1. Remove the hot dogs from their packaging and pat them completely dry with a paper towel. This is a crucial step because the dough will not stick to the hot dogs if they are wet or oily.
  2. Unroll the crescent roll dough onto a clean surface or a piece of parchment paper. If using crescent rolls, press the perforated seams together to create one large sheet. Use a pizza cutter or a sharp knife to cut the dough into thin strips, about 1/4 inch wide.
  3. Take one strip of dough and begin wrapping it around a hot dog. Start at one end and wind it around like a bandage, leaving a small gap near the top for the “face.” Continue wrapping until the hot dog is covered, using a second strip if necessary. Repeat for all hot dogs.
  4. Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C). Place the wrapped hot dogs in the air fryer basket in a single layer, ensuring they are not touching. Cook for 5 to 8 minutes, or until the dough is light golden brown and the hot dogs are heated through.
  5. Remove the mummies from the air fryer and let them cool for a minute. Using a tiny dab of mustard or ketchup as “glue,” attach two candy eyes to the gap you left earlier. If you do not have candy eyes, simply use two small dots of mustard to create the eyes.
