Description

A hearty and magical beef stew, loaded with tender vegetables and steeped in rich, savory broth, perfect for chilly evenings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pounds beef stew meat, cut into cubes
  • 4 cups beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 4 carrots, sliced
  • 3 potatoes, cubed
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 bay leaf
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce

Instructions

  1. Heat vegetable oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add the beef cubes and brown them on all sides.
  2. Once the beef is browned, add the chopped onion and minced garlic. Sauté until the onion becomes translucent.
  3. Pour in the beef broth and add the sliced carrots, cubed potatoes, dried thyme, bay leaf, Worcestershire sauce, and season with salt and pepper. Stir everything together.
  4. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce heat and cover the pot. Let it simmer for 1.5 to 2 hours, or until the beef is fork-tender.
  5. Remove the bay leaf before serving. Serve hot and enjoy!

Notes

For a thicker stew, mix a tablespoon of cornstarch with water and stir it in during the last few minutes of cooking.
