- 2 pounds beef stew meat, cut into cubes
- 4 cups beef broth
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 onion, chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 4 carrots, sliced
- 3 potatoes, cubed
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1 bay leaf
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
Instructions
- Heat vegetable oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add the beef cubes and brown them on all sides.
- Once the beef is browned, add the chopped onion and minced garlic. Sauté until the onion becomes translucent.
- Pour in the beef broth and add the sliced carrots, cubed potatoes, dried thyme, bay leaf, Worcestershire sauce, and season with salt and pepper. Stir everything together.
- Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce heat and cover the pot. Let it simmer for 1.5 to 2 hours, or until the beef is fork-tender.
- Remove the bay leaf before serving. Serve hot and enjoy!
Notes
For a thicker stew, mix a tablespoon of cornstarch with water and stir it in during the last few minutes of cooking.
