Vegan Fish Sticks


Description

Crispy and flavorful plant-based fish sticks that satisfy cravings without seafood.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup chickpea flour
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon nutritional yeast
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs (or panko)
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • Lemon wedges for serving

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix together chickpea flour, water, nutritional yeast, sea salt, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika until smooth.
  2. Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium heat, enough to coat the bottom of the pan.
  3. Pour the batter onto the skillet to form stick shapes, about 3 inches long and 1 inch wide. Cook until golden brown on one side, about 3-4 minutes, then flip to cook the other side.
  4. Once cooked, remove the sticks from skillet and place them on paper towels to absorb excess oil. Serve warm with lemon wedges.

Notes

For a crunchier texture, use panko breadcrumbs. To make gluten-free, substitute with gluten-free flour and breadcrumbs.
