Crispy and flavorful plant-based fish sticks that satisfy cravings without seafood.
Ingredients

- 1 cup chickpea flour
- 1 cup water
- 1 tablespoon nutritional yeast
- 1 teaspoon sea salt
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- 1 cup breadcrumbs (or panko)
- Vegetable oil for frying
- Lemon wedges for serving
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix together chickpea flour, water, nutritional yeast, sea salt, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika until smooth.
- Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium heat, enough to coat the bottom of the pan.
- Pour the batter onto the skillet to form stick shapes, about 3 inches long and 1 inch wide. Cook until golden brown on one side, about 3-4 minutes, then flip to cook the other side.
- Once cooked, remove the sticks from skillet and place them on paper towels to absorb excess oil. Serve warm with lemon wedges.
Notes
For a crunchier texture, use panko breadcrumbs. To make gluten-free, substitute with gluten-free flour and breadcrumbs.
