Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
- In a large bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Whisk until well blended.
- In another bowl, beat the eggs lightly, then add the whole milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract. Mix well.
- Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing thoroughly, and then slowly stir in the boiling water.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pans and bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes before transferring them to wire racks.
- For the frosting, beat the heavy cream until stiff peaks form. Gradually add powdered sugar and cocoa powder, mixing until smooth.
- Once the cakes are cooled, place one layer on a platter, frost the top, add the second layer, and frost the top and sides.
- Decorate with heart-shaped sprinkles or berries for a romantic touch.
Notes
Serve at room temperature with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for an enhanced experience. To store, keep in an airtight container at room temperature for up to three days.
