- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 3/4 cups granulated sugar
- 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 cup boiling water
- 2 cups dark chocolate ganache
- 1 cup chocolate shavings
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two 8-inch cake pans to prevent sticking.
- In a large bowl, mix together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt until well combined.
- Add the eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract to the dry mixture. Beat until smooth. Carefully stir in the boiling water to create a thin batter. Pour evenly into the prepared pans.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean. Let cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Spread a layer of ganache between the cake layers and on top. Decorate with chocolate shavings and chill before serving.
Notes
Serve at room temperature and pair with vanilla ice cream or fresh berries. Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature up to 3 days.
