Description

A savory, rich gravy made from turkey drippings that perfectly complements your turkey and stuffing.

Ingredients

  • Turkey drippings
  • All-purpose flour
  • Chicken or turkey broth
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Optional: herbs (like thyme or rosemary)

Instructions

  1. After roasting the turkey, pour the drippings into a measuring cup and let them sit until the fat rises to the top.
  2. Skim off the fat, leaving about 2-4 tablespoons in the pan for flavor.
  3. Place the pan over medium heat and whisk in the flour, cooking for about a minute until it’s lightly golden.
  4. Gradually add the broth while continuing to whisk until the mixture is smooth.
  5. Cook until the gravy thickens, about 5-10 minutes while stirring occasionally.
  6. Season with salt, pepper, and any optional herbs to taste.

Notes

For a darker gravy, allow the flour to cook longer before adding the broth. Use a whisk for smooth gravy; it helps to eliminate lumps.
