Description

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs ground beef or ground turkey
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 1 green bell pepper, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cans (14.5 oz each) diced tomatoes
  • 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 2 cans (15 oz each) kidney beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 can (15 oz) pinto beans, drained and rinsed
  • Spices: chili powder, cumin, paprika, cayenne pepper (optional)

Instructions

  1. Gather all ingredients and chop vegetables.
  2. Brown the ground meat in a large pot over medium heat for 5–7 minutes.
  3. Add the diced onion and green bell pepper; sauté until softened.
  4. Stir in the minced garlic for another minute.
  5. Combine all remaining ingredients in the pot and stir well.
  6. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce heat to low and cover partially.
  7. Taste and adjust seasonings as needed before serving hot with your favorite toppings.

Notes

If you like your chili with a lot of kick, add more cayenne pepper or diced jalapeños.
