- 4 large sweet potatoes
- 1/2 cup maple syrup
- 1/4 cup butter, melted
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/2 cup chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)
- Mini marshmallows (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Peel and cube the sweet potatoes. Boil in salted water until tender, about 15-20 minutes.
- Drain the sweet potatoes and mash until smooth. Stir in maple syrup, melted butter, brown sugar, milk, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and nutmeg until creamy and well combined.
- If using nuts, fold them into the mixture. Transfer to a greased casserole dish and smooth the top. Optionally, sprinkle mini marshmallows on top.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes until heated through and marshmallows are golden brown. Serve warm.
Notes
For a crunchy topping, broil the casserole for a minute after baking. You can prepare the mixture a day ahead and bake before serving.
