Description

A creamy and comforting casserole combining sweet potatoes and maple syrup, topped with marshmallows for a delightful holiday dish.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 large sweet potatoes
  • 1/2 cup maple syrup
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)
  • Mini marshmallows (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Peel and cube the sweet potatoes. Boil in salted water until tender, about 15-20 minutes.
  2. Drain the sweet potatoes and mash until smooth. Stir in maple syrup, melted butter, brown sugar, milk, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and nutmeg until creamy and well combined.
  3. If using nuts, fold them into the mixture. Transfer to a greased casserole dish and smooth the top. Optionally, sprinkle mini marshmallows on top.
  4. Bake for 25-30 minutes until heated through and marshmallows are golden brown. Serve warm.

Notes

For a crunchy topping, broil the casserole for a minute after baking. You can prepare the mixture a day ahead and bake before serving.
