Ingredients

- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 tablespoon active dry yeast
- 3/4 cup warm water
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon mixed herbs (basil, oregano, thyme)
- 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or mozzarella)
- 1 egg (for egg wash)
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until bubbly.
- In another bowl, mix flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture and olive oil, and knead until smooth.
- Let the dough rise in a warm place until doubled, about 1 hour.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Roll out the dough into a rectangle and spread minced garlic, mixed herbs, and cheese evenly.
- Roll the dough tightly and slice into swirls.
- Place swirls on a greased baking sheet with enough space to rise.
- Brush with egg wash and let rise for 30 minutes.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
- Cool slightly before serving.
Notes
Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days or freeze for up to a month. Reheat in the oven at 350°F (175°C) for 10-15 minutes.
