A delightful dessert combining tender apples and a crispy oat topping, perfect for fall gatherings.
Ingredients

- 2 cups of diced apples
- 1 cup of all-purpose flour
- 1 cup of granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup of brown sugar
- 1/2 cup of butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon of baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon of salt
- 1/2 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup of oats
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch round cake pan.
- Combine the diced apples with half of the brown sugar and ground cinnamon. Toss well and set aside.
- Whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and remaining granulated sugar in another bowl.
- Whisk the eggs, melted butter, and vanilla extract in a separate bowl until combined. Gently fold into the dry mixture.
- Fold in the apple mixture along with half of the oats.
- Pour the batter into the greased cake pan, spreading it evenly. Sprinkle with the remaining oats and a dusting of cinnamon and sugar if desired.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Allow the cake to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack.
Notes
Serve warm or at room temperature. Pairs well with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
