Description

A delightful dessert combining tender apples and a crispy oat topping, perfect for fall gatherings.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups of diced apples
  • 1 cup of all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup of granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup of brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup of butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon of baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon of salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup of oats

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch round cake pan.
  2. Combine the diced apples with half of the brown sugar and ground cinnamon. Toss well and set aside.
  3. Whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and remaining granulated sugar in another bowl.
  4. Whisk the eggs, melted butter, and vanilla extract in a separate bowl until combined. Gently fold into the dry mixture.
  5. Fold in the apple mixture along with half of the oats.
  6. Pour the batter into the greased cake pan, spreading it evenly. Sprinkle with the remaining oats and a dusting of cinnamon and sugar if desired.
  7. Bake for 30-35 minutes until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  8. Allow the cake to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack.

Notes

Serve warm or at room temperature. Pairs well with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
