Stuffed Grape Leaves (Dolma)

Description

A delightful Mediterranean dish featuring grape leaves filled with a savory mix of rice, onions, and fresh herbs, perfect as an appetizer or main course.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 jar grape leaves
  • 1 cup rice
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 cup fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1/2 cup fresh mint, chopped
  • 1 lemon, juiced
  • 2 cups water or broth

Instructions

  1. Rinse the grape leaves in cold water and set aside.
  2. In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the finely chopped onion and sauté until translucent (3-5 minutes).
  3. Stir in the rice, salt, pepper, and paprika, cooking for 2-3 minutes. Remove from heat, mix in the parsley, mint, and lemon juice.
  4. Place 1 tablespoon of the rice mixture on a grape leaf, fold sides over the filling, and roll tightly. Repeat with remaining leaves and filling.
  5. Arrange the stuffed leaves in a pot, layering with any remaining grape leaves.
  6. Pour water or broth over the stuffed leaves, ensuring they are just covered. Cover the pot and simmer on low heat for 45 minutes.
  7. Serve warm or at room temperature.

Notes

Perfect for meal prep; flavors develop as they sit. Serve with yogurt sauce, salad, or pita bread.
