Description

Fresh, creamy, and bursting with strawberry flavor, this delightful ice cream combines sweetened strawberries, rich cream, and soft cake pieces for a perfect summer dessert.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup crumbled pound cake or shortcake
  • Optional: whipped cream for serving

Instructions

  1. Combine the hulled and sliced strawberries with the granulated sugar in a mixing bowl and let them sit for about 15 minutes.
  2. Mix together the heavy cream, whole milk, and vanilla extract in another bowl until well combined.
  3. Fold the macerated strawberries into the cream mixture, careful to keep the strawberry chunks intact.
  4. Stir in the crumbled pound cake or shortcake.
  5. Pour the mixture into an ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
  6. Transfer the mixture to a container and freeze until firm, ideally for at least 4 hours.
  7. Serve the ice cream in bowls or cones, topped with whipped cream if desired.

Notes

Ensure your ice cream maker bowl is fully frozen before starting for the best consistency. If you don’t have fresh strawberries, you can use frozen berries; just thaw and drain them before mixing.
