Ingredients
Scale
- 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 1/2 cups white sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon almond extract
- 3–4 cups powdered sugar
- 2–3 tablespoons milk
- Food coloring (optional)
- Sprinkles (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a small bowl, stir together the flour, baking soda, and baking powder. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until smooth. Beat in the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract. Gradually blend in the dry ingredient mixture to form a dough.
- Roll rounded teaspoonfuls of the dough into balls and place them on ungreased cookie sheets. Flatten each ball slightly with the bottom of a glass. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes, or until the edges are golden. Let the cookies cool on wire racks.
- To make the frosting, mix 3-4 cups of powdered sugar with 2-3 tablespoons of milk until smooth, adding food coloring if desired. Frost the cooled cookies generously and top with sprinkles.
Notes
Make sure the butter is softened to room temperature. Don’t overbake the cookies; they should remain soft at the center.
