Description

Delightful roll-ups filled with cream cheese or Nutella, coated in cinnamon sugar, perfect for breakfast or brunch.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 slices white sandwich bread, crusts removed
  • 4 tablespoons cream cheese, softened (alternatively, Nutella or fruit jam)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 3 tablespoons milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter for frying

Instructions

  1. Gently flatten each slice of bread using a rolling pin until thin.
  2. Spread approximately half a tablespoon of cream cheese, Nutella, or your chosen filling along one edge of each slice, then tightly roll the bread slice towards the opposite edge.
  3. In a shallow bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla extract, and salt until well combined.
  4. Mix granulated sugar and ground cinnamon in a separate bowl. Melt one tablespoon of butter in a large non-stick skillet over medium heat.
  5. Dip each roll-up quickly in the egg mixture, ensuring it is fully coated on all sides. Place the roll-ups seam-side down in the skillet.
  6. Cook in batches, turning every one to two minutes until evenly golden brown, adding more butter as necessary. Roll the hot roll-ups in the cinnamon-sugar mixture to coat fully.
  7. Serve warm with maple syrup or powdered sugar.

Notes

Use slightly stale bread for easier rolling. Experiment with different fillings and egg mixture seasonings.
