Description

A rich, moist chocolate cake that is easy to make and perfect for any occasion.


Ingredients

  • 1 and 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 and 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 and 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup boiling water

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Mix thoroughly.
  3. Add the eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract to the dry mixture. Blend until smooth.
  4. Carefully stir in the boiling water; the batter will be thin.
  5. Pour the batter evenly into the prepared pans and bake for 30-35 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
  6. Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Store leftover cake in an airtight container for up to 2 days at room temperature or refrigerate for up to a week. Can be frozen for up to three months.
