- 225 g unsalted butter (for blondie base)
- 125 g all-purpose flour
- 1.25 ml baking powder
- 1.25 ml fine sea salt
- 150 g light brown sugar
- 1 large egg
- 10 ml vanilla bean paste or vanilla extract
- 50 g mini pretzel twists, roughly chopped
- 170 g chocolate chips, plus extra for garnish
- 16 mini pretzel twists (for garnish)
- Chocolate chips (for topping, optional)
- Flaky sea salt (for garnish, optional)
- Salted caramel sauce (for drizzling)
Instructions
- Prepare the Salted Caramel Sauce: In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt the granulated sugar while stirring continuously. Once melted and golden, reduce heat, whisk in butter and warmed cream, then add sea salt. Remove from heat and cool before transferring to a heatproof container.
- Preheat the oven to 175°C (350°F). Grease a 20×20 cm baking pan and line it with parchment paper.
- Mix Blondie Batter: Melt the butter and let it cool. Whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt in a bowl. In another bowl, mix melted butter, brown sugar, egg, and vanilla until blended, then stir in dry ingredients. Gently fold in pretzels and chocolate chips.
- Spread the batter into the prepared pan. Bake for 35–45 minutes, checking after 25 minutes. Cool completely in the pan.
- Once cooled, lift blondies from the pan, drizzle with caramel, top with mini pretzel twists, extra chocolate chips, and flaky sea salt if desired. Cut into 16 squares.
Notes
Use room temperature ingredients for better blending and check for doneness to avoid overbaking. Customize toppings such as nuts or different types of chocolate chips.
