Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two 9-inch round cake pans.
- Cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract.
- Whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt in another bowl.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with the milk, mixing until well combined.
- Divide the batter between the prepared pans and use food coloring to create a racing theme.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- Cool in pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.
- Once cooled, stack and frost the layers with your favorite frosting.
- Decorate with fondant and a racing car topper.
