Ingredients

  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • Red and black food coloring
  • Fondant for decoration

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. Cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. Whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt in another bowl.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with the milk, mixing until well combined.
  6. Divide the batter between the prepared pans and use food coloring to create a racing theme.
  7. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  8. Cool in pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.
  9. Once cooled, stack and frost the layers with your favorite frosting.
  10. Decorate with fondant and a racing car topper.
