Potato Minced Meat (Aloo Keema)

Description

A hearty and flavorful dish that combines tender minced meat with soft diced potatoes, seasoned with aromatic spices.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef (or lamb)
  • 3 medium potatoes, peeled and diced
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 tomatoes, chopped
  • 2 green chilies, slit
  • 1 tsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp red chili powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • Fresh cilantro for garnish

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add cumin seeds and let them sizzle until fragrant.
  2. Add chopped onions to the pot and sauté them until they become translucent, about 4-5 minutes.
  3. Stir in the ginger-garlic paste and slit green chilies, cooking for about a minute.
  4. Add the ground meat to the pot and cook until it is browned, breaking it apart with a spatula.
  5. Mix in the chopped tomatoes, turmeric powder, coriander powder, red chili powder, and salt. Stir everything well to combine.
  6. Stir in the diced potatoes and add enough water to just cover them. Bring it to a boil, then reduce the heat and cover the pot. Let it simmer until the potatoes are tender, about 15-20 minutes.
  7. Garnish with fresh cilantro before serving. Enjoy your Aloo Keema with rice or naan!

Notes

Use ground meat of your choice and feel free to customize spice levels. Perfect for family dinners or potlucks.
